Corsica is "The Island of Beauty". The workshop was held in the mountains near historic villages, such as Bastelica.
“there too, are the heights of Bastelica…Soon after sunrise I am drawing at the grotto hill...on so lovely a morning as this it seems to me that imagination could picture no scene more beautiful."

of a Landscape Painter In Corsica, by Edward Lear, 1870

Participants had an unparalleled painting adventure, offering small-group attention in the world's ideal landscape. Painting the mountains, lakes, and local villages, while fortifying ourselves with delicious Corsican food and wine made the ten days fly. All too soon, it was time to bid adieu to a terrific group.
By then I had been to a breathtaking inland lake and a waterfall, swam in the salty Sea and strolled ancient narrow village streets, only to realize I had just touched the surface of the beauty of Corsica and its intricate history. I had decided to travel northeast across the island to get a further sense of the influences of time, tradewinds and proximity to the Italian coast. A magical full moon illuminated the cafés in Ajaccio that night, with each maitre’d bidding a cheerful, “Bon soir, Madame” as I passed by. The moon shone down on the grand yachts, the gargantuan ferries and the fishing boats and I’m sure I’m not the first to whisper, “a bientot, – later, not goodbye.”
